This session introduces the five key areas of wellness: eating, exercise, stress management, relationships, and life changes. Participants examine their own lifestyle and level of wellness and discover how the everyday choices they make, large and small, affect their health and well-being. Participants assess their current wellness level in the areas of eating, exercise, stress, relationships, and change. They then develop goals and plans for improving wellness in these areas.
Go beyond the government’s food pyramid and labeling guidelines to examine the reasons why people eat. This session explores myths our culture has created around eating and weight. Participants examine their personal eating style, including how, when, and what they eat. They then develop a plan for improving their eating habits.
This session shows participants that exercise can be part of a normal lifestyle. It doesn’t have to hurt to be effective. The video also demonstrates how exercises for flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular conditioning can become part of everyday life. Participants think about the exercise activities they enjoy and design a plan that will make those activities a part of their everyday lives.
Stress can be healthy. This session describes physical and emotional reactions to stress and stimulates participants to examine their own lives. Participants identify their stress symptoms and the events that trigger stress. Each person creates a coping plan that identifies creative options for managing stress more effectively.
Good relationships are essential for good health. This session examines the positive and negative roles that relationships can play
in health and wellness. Participants learn four important factors for building supportive relationships and six ways to nurture those healthy relationships.
This session shows participants who have decided to pursue better health how to begin. Participants focus on the changes they want to make and complete the steps required to develop a list of goals and a plan to achieve those goals.
